Undergraduate Research Assistant (Bio & Chem- URDA)
Texas A&M International University is seeking an Undergraduate Research Assistant to assist in research projects related to microbiology, specifically infectious diseases. The role involves working in a laboratory, operating equipment, collecting data, and maintaining the lab under supervision.

Responsibilities
Work in a basic science research laboratory under BSL1 and BSL2 safety guidelines under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
Required to meet the deadlines for science publications
Operates lab equipment and performs experimental procedures
Collects and summarizes research data
Carry out general laboratory maintenance
Ability to work long hours as necessitated by the experiments
Qualification
Required
Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester
Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0
Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP)
Work in a basic science research laboratory under BSL1 and BSL2 safety guidelines under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
Required to meet the deadlines for science publications
Operates lab equipment and performs experimental procedures
Collects and summarizes research data
Carry out general laboratory maintenance
Ability to work long hours as necessitated by the experiments
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace
Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule
Promptly complete all required training
Submit time sheet biweekly
Some evening and weekend work may be required
Subject to funding and/or need
Preferred
Education- enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program with a major in Biology or Chemistry with a minimum GPA of 2.8
