Automation Control Engineer

Responsibilities
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods
Solves problems confronting manufacturing performance, directly or indirectly. Identifying root cause, implementing corrective actions, sustaining improvements, and identifying support as required
Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Must maintain an entrepreneurial spirit, not be afraid to take risks, celebrate successes of others, and take responsibility for actions and the results of efforts
Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions
Proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities throughout the company
Develop and maintain work standards supporting company strategies to promote efficient staff and facility utilization including documentation of operational procedures, observations, meetings and required follow up
Conducts audits in alignment with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 standards
Analyzes methods and operations, develops improvement plans, implements changes, and measures results
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchases of equipment, tooling, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specification and quality standards
Leads capital projects to improve process capability, manufacturing capacity, and operational effectiveness
Participates in and supports the Company’s Six Sigma initiatives
Participates and leads kaizen events to improve productivity and reduce waste
Work with management team to identify & lead continuous improvement projects utilizing lean & six sigma principles that drive operational excellence & improve profitability
Through execution of lean initiatives, drive performance excellence and embrace the role of a change agent for the company
Promote, educate, and instill a culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the manufacturing operation by utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts and the principles of Kaizen (Continuous Improvement)
Must be willing to travel, work extended hours and weekends as required to perform the objectives of this function

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field. Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Ideal candidate would be a “hands-on” person with shop floor experience
Previous experience with Project Management and one of the focus areas below: Chemical Engineering, with background in surface preparation and coating systems; Thermal Processing / Metallurgy, with background in powdered metals and sintering; Automation / Controls, with background in multi-station automated production lines
