Responsibilities
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in civil engineering, providing technical guidance and problem-solving support
Review, validate, and approve designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documents
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal codes, standards, and regulations (AASHTO, ASTM, ASCE, etc.)
Support project teams with design optimization, constructability reviews, and risk mitigation
Provide expert input on site development, grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and structural coordination
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training as needed
Participate in technical reviews, audits, and client discussions
Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical estimates when required
Collaborate remotely with internal teams, clients, and external consultants
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license – Required (active)
10–15+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering
Proven experience acting as a technical lead or SME on large or complex projects
Experience supporting remote teams and multi-location stakeholders
Strong expertise in one or more of the following: Site Development & Land Development, Transportation / Highways / Roadway Design, Water Resources / Drainage / Stormwater, Utilities & Infrastructure, Structural or Geotechnical coordination
Proficiency with industry tools: AutoCAD / Civil 3D
Strong understanding of engineering calculations, design standards, and QA/QC processes
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Leadership and mentoring mindset
Strong attention to detail and quality
Preferred
Master's degree in Civil Engineering
PMP or other certifications
MicroStation (preferred for DOT projects)
Client-facing experience preferred
