Responsibilities

Diagnoses problems and performs tractor-trailer repairs/part replacement including but not limited to diesel engines, brakes, rear-ends, clutches, air conditioners, radiators, diesel engine injectors, water pumps, and wheel bearings
Conducts inspections on equipment to meet federal guidelines
Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems using computers and scanners
Maintains accurate record of work performed and parts used
Reports to work when scheduled and on time
Performs minor repairs to building and service equipment including replacing starters and alternators
Responds to service calls on the road to repair breakdowns
Performs service work including oil changes
Performs tire work
Performs other job related duties and special projects as required

Required

High school with additional trade school or equivalent experience necessary
Valid CDL license required
Over six months up to one-year similar or related work experience
Must have the ability to perform a wide range of intellectual and practical problems: non-verbal symbolism, comprehend most abstruse concepts
Must be able to do Arithmetic, Algebraic, and Geometric calculations
Must be physically able to perform very heavy work: exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, 50 lbs of force frequently, and 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects
Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more, with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stopping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion

Preferred

Courses of technical certification in automotive maintenance helpful
