Accountant I

CentroMed is responsible for providing healthcare services, and they are seeking an Accountant I to assist the VP/Chief Financial Officer in managing financial activities. The role involves responsibilities such as auditing, budgeting, financial reporting, and providing technical assistance to accounting staff.

Responsibilities

Assists the VP/CFO with organizing and directing the maintenance of the accounting system
Conducts and coordinates program and fiscal reviews for compliance with funding Requirements and internal controls under direction of the VP/CFO
Assists the VP/CFO develop and maintain budgeting systems which provide control of expenditures to include individual program and consolidated budgets
Monitors accounts payable, accounts receivables and payroll records for appropriate processing and recording
Prepares individual program and consolidated financial statements, invoices and other reports for submission to external agencies and internal management
Provides technical and supportive assistance to the accounting, billing and bookkeeping staff
Prepares specialized reports and completes specialized projects as requested by management
Reconciles agency bank statements
Performs other duties assigned by the VP/CFO in keeping with the agency’s philosophy, purpose, priorities, goals and objectives

Required

Associates Degree or higher
Five or more years' experience as a bookkeeper or equivalent
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting can be substituted for five years' experience
Associates Degree in Accounting can be substituted for two years' experience
Knowledge of automated accounting systems, word processing programs and spreadsheet applications
Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of accounting, with emphasis on governmental and non-profit accounting systems and procedures
Knowledge of office management procedures, practices and equipment as applied to accounting and auditing
Ability to adapt to new accounting procedures and methods to meet the agency's needs
Must be able to meet the essential functions of the position
Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position
Must be able to communicate information to staff and the public
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to use all office equipment
Must be able to visit all agency locations
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of individuals in the workplace
