Interim Bankruptcy Attorney
Major, Lindsey & Africa is a boutique law firm seeking an Interim Bankruptcy Attorney with extensive experience in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The role involves leading creditor-side workstreams in complex restructurings, advising clients on risk mitigation, and interfacing with various stakeholders to ensure alignment on restructuring strategies.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage creditor-side workstreams in large Chapter 11 matters, including:
Debtor‑in‑Possession financing, cash collateral, adequate protection, and milestone negotiations
Plan negotiations, plan feasibility/confirmability issues, and intercreditor subordination analyses
Asset sales under §363, including stalking-horse and auction processes
First-day motions, critical vendor programs, and assumption/rejection of executory contracts and leases
Develop strategy and draft/review complex pleadings, declarations, and motion papers; oversee discovery, depositions, and expert work as necessary
Advise agents, lenders, and trade creditors on risk mitigation, recoveries, lien validity/perfection, and post-petition exposure
Interface with financial advisors, investment banks, and crisis communications, ensuring alignment on restructuring strategy and timelines
Qualification
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in the U.S.; be in good standing with a state bar
10+ years of law firm experience in restructuring & insolvency with a focus on Chapter 11
Demonstrated track record in large-cap or upper middle-market restructurings
Credit-side orientation: experience representing secured/unsecured lenders, bondholders, agents, creditor groups, trade creditors, and/or creditors' committees
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy; ability to lead matter teams and handle fast-paced, high-pressure dockets
Strategic judgment in distressed situations; ability to frame options and quantify tradeoffs
Client service mindset with proactive communication and deadline discipline
Preferred
Large-retailer case experience preferred, such as footprint optimization, supply chain/vendor programs, omnichannel IP, distribution, and lease portfolios
