Editorial Specialist
Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about various issues affecting America and the world. The Editorial Specialist will assist with copy editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and quality control for digital content, working closely with researchers and writers to enhance publications across the Center's research areas.

Responsibilities
Responsible for copy editing publications including blog posts, reports, graphics, newsletters and social media posts
Ensures that all published materials meet the highest standards for spelling, grammar, style, clarity, accuracy and appropriateness
Looks for inconsistencies of thought, development or organization
Confers with authors regarding direction, tone and language
Helps coordinate the flow of copy through the editorial process
Regularly serves as a number-checker, verifying the accuracy of publications using internal and external data sources
Contributes original research or writing for editorial projects as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required, plus 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in data journalism, research, communications or related field
Familiarity with copy editing and proofreading
Experienced proficiency with current Associated Press style required
Experience with fact-checking and/or checking numbers and calculations
Experience working with numbers and data trends; familiarity with data journalism concepts a plus
Experience demonstrating news judgment
Basic copy editing, proofreading and writing skills
Ability to edit work in the Center's neutral, nonpartisan voice and style
Awareness of language trends in sensitive topics such as gender and race
Attention to detail and accuracy, both in presenting numbers and in language
Ability to work independently to meet daily deadlines and turn around production of new content quickly
Ability to work in fast-paced collaborative environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Associated Press style
Preferred
Experience using statistical software such as SPSS or R strongly preferred
