Responsibilities

Under general supervision, understand all key business objectives and means of accomplishing them for assigned business units
Provide legal advice related to the business units and anticipate future legal needs
Draft and review policy documents anticipating litigation exposure
Coordinate support for assigned business units from other parts of the legal department
Use broad legal knowledge to issue spot business risks and opportunities that could interact with multiple legal subject areas such as insurance compliance, consumer-protection laws, contractual obligations, privacy, and requirements of state unfair claims practices acts

Required

Strongly prefer candidates with at least 5 to 7 years of experience at a law firm or in-house setting serving as a legal advisor or coverage counselor for products within the property/casualty insurance industry or an insurance litigation background
Must have a law degree and an active law license to practice in the United States
Must excel at customer service and working well with others
Strong listening and communication skills
Strong research and writing skills, and an eagerness to be involved in a dynamic company
Ability to quickly digest and understand business plans, processes, and procedures
Ability to provide sound legal advice with incomplete information
Refined judgment about legal and legal-adjacent risks as well as mitigation opportunities
Must be solution-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making skills
Must have demonstrated experience solving business problems and advancing business metrics
Experience working with cross-functional teams, both legal and non-legal
