Ink Mixer/Utility Person
Koozie Group is one of the largest suppliers in the promotional products industry, known for their iconic Koozie® Can Kooler. They are seeking an Ink Mixer/Utility Person to maintain proper inventory levels and handle ink, plates, and chemicals in the press area, while also performing assistant operator duties as needed.

Responsibilities
Responsible for mixing custom and pantone mixing system inks for imprinting, large pressroom and web press. Includes color matching, consistency of color, adjusting ink tack to suit the job being printed, and ink coverage estimation
Works with production control, referring to MO's, pulling and inspecting plates for wear, comparing samples in MO to plates for proper copy and color break according to samples
Responsible for ink, chemicals, and misc. press supply inventory including reordering, receiving and distribution throughout press area and plant
Coordinates safe practices and procedures concerning all chemicals in the pressroom. Fills labels and inspects chemical containers. Tracks chemical usage and ensures safe handling and storage, in compliance with OSHA and the EPA. Keeps up to date continuing training in OSHA and EPA regulation and compliances
Develops and performs sage hazardous and non-hazardous waste procedures for all chemicals including waste ink and sludge. Combines wastes together safely, operates explosion proof centrifuge, storing and loading waste properly. Responsible for any chemical spills, handling according to government regulations
Documents and signs hazardous waste shipping, labels and manifests. Accepting full responsibility and liability for providing accurate information. Understands " Cradle to the Grave". Responsibilities maintains records in accordance to OSHA and EPA. Maintains master copies of MSDS books
Responsible for mixing water chemistries, monitoring PH and conductivity to suit various press applications. Utilizes test equipment, monitor usage levels
Communicates on a frequent basis with outside vendors
Responsible for press and shop rags and inventory
Maintains plate filing system, interacting with job planning, plating, QC, sales, press personnel, verifying inventory, color descriptions and quality problems
Checks the press rollers for wear and sends them out for needed repairs
On call for urgent needs
Must be a member of the safety team. Serves as emergency response team member for facility contingency program
Will operate press when needed
Ensures that all raw materials and supplies are stored in the proper manner once they are no longer in use
Maintains an effective working relationship with all team members throughout the plant
Maintains the work area and predetermined other areas in a neat and orderly manner
Performs duties in a safe manner and utilizes approved safety equipment and procedures at all times
Promotes Koozie Group vision through teamwork either by active participation and/or nurturing other team ideas
May perform similar or related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
At least 18 years of age or older
Must be able to read and understand work instructions
Must be able to perform basic math functions
Strong mechanical aptitude
Optical skill for detail, color, and fine manipulation ability
Needs to be able to climb, reach, grasp, lift 10 - 40 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds, bend and pull
Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise and chemical
Must be able to adapt to rotating and changing shifts, overtime and work in other departments
Must have the ability to make decisions regarding color chemicals, quality and workflow
Adjust and/or make minor repairs to equipment and operate computerized weighing scales
Must have the dexterity to pour and mix inks and must have a keen sense of color
