Responsibilities

Examine and audit tax returns and other related documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with WV law

Verifying the accuracy of return filings utilizing well established rules and procedures

Corresponding and communicating with taxpayers and their representatives in writing or on the phone regarding issues and questions related to tax filings

Communicating with auditors, attorneys, and other agency employees regarding issues related to tax filings

Engaging in tax discovery and desk audit programs resulting in assessment of tax or denial of refunds claims

Utilizing the integrated tax system to accomplish everyday tasks along with other office computer applications

Maintaining strict confidentiality with regard to taxpayer information

Performing related work as required

Required

Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent paid part-time experience in providing accounting support and/or clerical office support, OR two (2) years of experience at the State Tax Division
