Operational Accounting Manager

The Operational Accounting Manager will lead core operational processes, manage staff, and ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX while overseeing accounting functions and treasury operations.

Responsibilities

Lead month-end close for assigned areas; partner with cross-functional teams on accruals and allocations
Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, allocations, and reclasses
Ensure full GAAP and SOX compliance; maintain clear and updated process documentation
Oversee unclaimed property (escheatment) reporting and state-regulated compliance
Supervise and develop accounting support staff; oversee performance reviews, coaching, and training programs
Support internal and external audits, plus special projects aimed at scaling accounting operations
Support treasury operations including cash management, forecasting, and banking relationships
Identify opportunities to streamline cash processes and improve working capital visibility
Partner with Financial Reporting on cash, investments, and intercompany accounting

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years leading or supervising staff
Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX, and operational accounting processes
Advanced Excel capabilities
Ability to work onsite in North Austin

Preferred

Experience in insurance or other highly regulated industries (banking, utilities, healthcare, financial services)
CPA preferred, but not required
Experience with Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud, ARCS, or other large ERP platforms
Familiarity with reinsurance, intercompany accounting, and escheatment laws
