Human Resources Generalist
The Riverside Church is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to perform various HR-related duties at a professional level. The role involves handling employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits administration, and recruitment support.

Responsibilities
The Human Resources Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas:
Employee Relations: Handling day-to-day employee inquiries, managing conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment
Performance Management: Assisting with performance reviews and developing related programs
Training & Development: Coordinating and sometimes delivering training programs to address skill gaps and support career growth
Benefits Administration: Overseeing employee benefits programs and serving as the main point of contact for benefit-related questions
Recruitment Support: Assisting the Director with higher-level recruiting tasks, such as conducting interviews and managing the applicant tracking system (ATS)
Employment
Works closely with individual departments in establishing position requirements, developing job descriptions, as needed
Identifies targeted and effective talent sources and engages appropriately
Conducts employment verifications, including necessary references, background checks, and other employment requirements prior to official offer
Extends written contingent offer job offer
Oversees the maintenance of all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies
Onboarding
Coordinates with common departments to ensure smooth transition for new hire (i.e., tech, security, mailroom, etc.)
Conducts onboarding sessions for all new hires
Provides all required documentation, ensuring full completion and submission
Ensures employee gains understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Counsel employees on plan provisions for informed decisions
Review Employee Handbook for general comprehensive
Follow up on all new hire paperwork for compliance purposes
Benefits
Responsible for administration of employee benefits in all company operations
Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions
Serve as the COBRA administrator for the organization
Provide special guidance and assistance to employees on various employee benefit plans
Handle benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Maintain contact with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees
Manage annual open enrollment period
Assure organization compliance with Affordable Care Act ACA
Complete unemployment claims
Reports, maintains and monitors all workers compensation case files; follows up on open cases
HR Metrics
Gather intelligence through the HRIS tools available
Generate, track and analyze data to assess efficiencies and performance of Company
Create standard reports to monitor and assess practices
Generates quarterly reports on HR metrics
Payroll Function
Acts as backup/support for the following payroll functions:
Polls electronic time clocks and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy
Contacts various department supervisors for any missed times
Processes weekly transfer of time and attendance to Finance department for payroll processing
Compiles internal management reports from payroll system software
Additional Duties
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
Oversee annual appraisals and performance evaluation process
Review, revise, and advise HR Director on training and development needs
Participates in executing department goals, objectives and the development of systems
Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems
Manages and tracks employee disciplinary actions
Maintains OSHA reports
Maintains and coordinates employee wellness, education, and appreciation programs
Flexibility acting in an administrative capacity
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
4+ years of HR Generalist experience
Experience maintaining confidential/sensitive information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
HRIS strong experience required (Time & Attendance, Reporting, Onboarding & Recruitment), ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
Training and development strongly preferred
