Director of Communications & Digital Fundraising

Responsibilities
Inform EEI’s communications strategy and oversee its adaptation and implementation in the US to reflect organizational goals and key metrics, redirecting efforts to respond to shifts in priorities and capacity, when needed
Map and implement the communications and marketing strategy for EEI in the US market, defining and tracking KPIs against goals, and aligning resources with strategy to ensure success
Market and maintain the integrity of the EEI brand; ensure communications materials align with the organization’s style guide and values
Curate and oversee performance dashboards and present progress reports to EEI senior leadership and Board of Directors, as requested
Oversee work-plan development and execution of editorial calendar for owned, earned, and paid communications and marketing channels, including the EEI website, social media, email, digital advertising platforms, as well as key events, and both proactive and reactive media relations
Chart and oversee marketing initiatives to increase EEI’s base of supporters in the US, increase revenue, and strengthen brand awareness in the US market
Oversee integrated, multi-channel efforts to acquire, engage, convert, steward, and retain online supporters and pursue a data-driven, digital-first approach
Assist with donor cultivation and fundraising proposals for grant opportunities that mobilize resources to expand EEI’s communications capacity
Collaborate closely with the Fundraising team to support the development of campaigns and appeals to generate unrestricted revenue and support donor acquisition and engagement
Collaborate closely with the Fundraising team to ensure that the donor acquisition and retention systems work seamlessly
Develop and implement brand-building and communications strategies that position EEI in the US market as a thought and practice leader in the fight to protect our ocean planet
Promote and manage the EEI brand across communications channels to consistently communicate EEI’s value proposition
Develop a press engagement function that explains, promotes, and positions EEI with media as a leading voice on ocean health and tracking success with defined KPIs and dashboards
Oversee content strategy, storytelling and content development, balancing proactive and reactive priorities, while strengthening a robust story and information pipeline to fuel multi-channel communications efforts
Develop op-eds, speeches, key messages, and talking points for EEI senior leaders
Support relevant high-profile speaking engagements for EEI senior leaders
Oversee and manage communications consultants; advise on contracts and procurement processes for vendors
Ensure timely production of key external communication assets such as the annual report and other written and visual communications to the public and donors
Ensure communications deliverables specified in grant agreements are resourced effectively and produced in compliance with partner requirements
Coordinate with EEI colleagues internationally to develop capability statements, program briefs, and presentations as needed
Share brand and other communications guidelines with new institutional partners; coordinate with EEI teams to ensure external messaging aligns with grant requirements, EEI brand, and established codes of conduct
Oversee all administrative/operational duties of the department, e.g., budget creation, expense monitoring and technology systems. Provide revenue projections and forecasting for quarterly, annual, and multi-year budget planning
Serve as an effective senior leader of the organization, participate in the active management of the office, and contribute to a positive team and office environment. Offer guidance and mentorship to junior staff, peers, and senior leadership
Model cultural competence and humility as a member of a multicultural team that works globally
Model and support EEI’s commitment to valuing and supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and contributing to an inclusive working environment
Work with senior leadership and the other directors to provide leadership to the BRAC USA team
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated commitment to the climate change field as well as depth of experience in strategic communications, media relations, and fundraising for a nonprofit
Excellent writing, editing, research, and oral presentation skills; experience breaking down complex arguments, distilling key messages, and tailoring them effectively for multiple target audiences
Strong media relations experience and media contacts
Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, brand marketing, and content development
Expertise in developing multimedia stories and messaging tailored to key target audiences and engagement objectives
Experience working in non-profit sector
Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with an ability to develop and maintain long-term, productive relationships internally and externally, in addition to cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on diverse teams and from diverse settings, both in-person and remotely, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
Ability to manage teams who work remotely
Highly organized, strategic thinker with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Proactive team player with a strong desire to learn and the ability to be flexible
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of EarthEcho International
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other related fields, ideally including experience with an international nonprofit organization
Significant exposure to the issues of climate change or other key areas related to EEI's work
At least 5 years of overall relevant professional experience
Knowledge of communications and marketing best practices and tools. Experience with digital communications, social media, digital analytics, media monitoring software, and CRM databases
Proficiency with Google Suite
