Associate Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineering)
East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join their Design Division. The role involves conducting mechanical and process design, providing technical support, and managing projects related to water treatment and distribution systems.

Responsibilities
Conducting site investigations, collaborating with clients, preparing mechanical and process design drawings (e.g., pumps, piping, valves, chemical systems, mechanical equipment) and specifications, and performing engineering analyses
Using and applying computer software tools in the performance of a variety of engineering activities ranging from hands on 3D and 2D computer-aided design to project scheduling and spreadsheet-based economic analyses and hydraulic modeling
Responding to verbal and written requests for engineering field inspections and evaluations as well as mechanical and process engineering calculations (e.g., hydraulic analysis, pump sizing, valve sizing, ventilation). Providing technical support to other departments and engineers and reviewing contractor and vendor document submittals
Identifying project objectives, scope, cost estimates, feasibility, justifications, milestones, and completion schedule; coordinating resources and preparing supporting documentation
Preparing memos, letters, and engineering reports designed to address a variety of audiences including EBMUD engineering, operations and maintenance staff, public agencies, government bodies, and members of the general public
Conducting and participating in meetings; and presenting papers, proposals, reports, and recommendations to a wide variety of audiences including EBMUD engineering, operations and maintenance staff, public agencies, government bodies, professional organizations, and members of the general public
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited mechanical or related engineering curriculum, or a California EIT certificate
Four years of professional mechanical and related engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD's Assistant Mechanical Engineer level
California registration as a Professional Mechanical Engineer
Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record
Must possess physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job including physical agility to inspect job sites and equipment as required
Must be willing to work overtime as needed
