Senior Linux/UNIX System Engineer
Lifescale Analytics is a specialized data and analytics consulting firm founded in 2012. They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer who will provide LINUX support for around 300 servers, focusing on operational support, system maintenance, and compliance with security requirements.
Responsibilities
System tunings to application specific requirements. Systems standardization and automation
Keeping the UNIX environment compliant with the technology roadmap, such as OS & hardware upgrades, 3rd party software upgrades
Work on incident tickets and resolve in a timely manner
Remediate Secunia OS vulnerabilities as required by regular security audits
Perform quarterly patching of RedHat to ensure systems are compliant and pass strict PCI security requirements as dictated by regular audits from security team
Interface with IT and business clients at all levels of the organization
Rotating on-call Unix/Linux support in a 24X7 environment
Documentation of work
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs
Research and development of new technology as required by business initiatives and management vision
Qualification
Required
10+ years of Linux/UNIX systems administration experience
Experience with RHEL Linux 8/9 administration/patch management
Experienced with Linux Server builds and custom configurations
Performance tuning of Oracle database servers
Hands-on experience with Server Security vulnerability management
SolarWinds monitoring
Strong background with Ansible (playbooks + Automation Platform)
Experience managing and upgrading Satellite 6
Solid knowledge of VMware in operational environments
Strong automation mindset
Server migration experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking, topologies, and firewalled environments
The ability to work completely independently or with a team
Very detail-oriented in planning, implementing, documenting, and following up
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team player attitude with experience working in a collaborative environment
The ability to multi-task and work across a range of projects and issues with various timelines and priorities
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field — OR equivalent professional experience
