Disability Services Accommodations Specialist

Responsibilities

Provides support to students with disabilities, including advising on available accommodations, outlining rights and responsibilities, and guiding them through the accommodation request process
Conducts independent intake meetings, reviews documentation, and assists the Associate Director to provide accommodations in compliance with ADA regulations
Maintains and updates accurate and confidential records of accommodations, ensuring compliance with University policies and legal regulations
Collaborates with faculty to implement approved accommodations
Conducts individual training sessions for students and faculty
Serves as a liaison between students and deans for foreign language substitutions and other academic matters
Represents the director, associate director, or assistant director in meetings and workshops
Assists with administrative office tasks
Represents ODS at events as needed
Proctors exams as necessary
Assists with office reports and presentations

Required

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, disability studies, or a related field
Minimum Two Years' Experience In a Higher Educational Setting
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Excellent communication skills for facilitating interactions between students, faculty, and staff
Excellent computer skills
Ability to work as a team player, as well as independently
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Commitment to serving a diverse student population
Possess an understanding of the mission of Jesuit education

Preferred

Master's degree
Experience in disability services, student affairs, or a related field within higher education
Knowledge of federal and state laws related to disability accommodations in higher education (e.g., ADA, Section 504)
