Railroad Safety Flagger CPKC South
RailPros is the premier provider of engineering and diversified safety services to America’s rail and transit industry. The Roadway Worker in Charge (RWIC) position will perform on-site roadway worker protection for activities on and around live railroad tracks, coordinating job site safety and communication with dispatchers and train crews.

Responsibilities
Provide the required jobsite protection on each assignment, error free and consistent with the rules; including but not limited to radio communication with train dispatchers and engineers, ensuring work groups are clear of limits during train movements, granting permission for trains and on-track equipment to proceed through limits
Perform daily job briefings with all personnel on the job site and ensure all personnel adhere to the safety requirements of the railroad
Prepare and submit required electronic forms including but not limited to: a job set-up form for each flagging assignment, daily work reports, invoices, and other reports as required
Handle and place signs, derail and other tools and equipment weighing 15 to 90 pounds, which may be necessary multiple times throughout the day
Actively participate in routine reoccurring safety classes and qualification training
Maintain a high level of communication with the RWIC supervisors and managers regarding the various assignments and schedules

Qualification
Required
Ability to meet the required physical demands and complete necessary tasks
Effective in warning roadway workers of the approach of trains
Understanding of on-track safety training and qualification requirements for protected roadway workers
Proficient in radio communication procedures with RWIC/EICs (Employees in Charge)
Capable of conducting job briefings with all roadway workers at their location
Ability to place railroad advance warning and stop signs
Skilled in installing railroad derails and applying locking devices
Proficiency with electronic communications, including email and text, as well as standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum of 2 years of Class 1 Railroad experience within the Maintenance of Way (MOW) department
Employment is contingent upon the successful outcome of pre-employment and recurring background checks, and drug and alcohol testing, as well as classroom and field training, including assessments. Successful completion of all onboarding and recurring training requirements is mandatory for continued employment
CPKC On-Track Worker and Operating Rules
Preferred
2 to 5 years of railroad track maintenance experience
Prior experience working within a railway company
Training in railway 'Track Inspection Guidelines' or equivalent
Prior front-line first responder experience is a plus
