The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is one of the largest agencies in the state, and they are seeking an Educational Developmental Assistant at the Murdoch Developmental Center. This role involves working with intellectually disabled adults to ensure their overall well-being, health, and safety by implementing individualized programmatic needs and adhering to prescribed guidelines.

Responsibilities

Serve as an integral participant in the team process

Work with multiple individuals in and outside of the classroom to ensure individual's overall well-being, health and safety

Adhere to each person's plan and prescriptive guidelines to staff, health care considerations, formal and informal behavioral plans, supervision guidelines, etc

Qualification

Direct care experienceFirst Aid certificationNonviolent Crisis InterventionHealthcare field experienceCommunication skillsTeam collaborationProblem-solving skills

Required

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma

One year of experience working with students in an educational environment

Ability to pass a physical requirements test

Good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry

Successful completion of the Murdoch Developmental Center 'Basic Training Series', which includes program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting

Ability to adhere to each person's plan and prescriptive guidelines to staff, health care considerations, formal and informal behavioral plans, supervision guidelines, etc

Ability to work with multiple individuals in and outside of the classroom to ensure individual's overall well-being, health and safety

Preferred

Work experience in the healthcare field

Work experience in basic knowledge/skills of providing direct care which may include but is not limited to training Individuals in activities of daily living
