Responsibilities
Performs day-to-day clinical work of physics staff, which includes, but is not limits to, treatment planning, patient chart check/review, physics support to all treatment modalities, quality assurance of therapy equipment and treatment planning computer systems
Implements acceptance testing and commissioning of treatment machines; carries out measurement and analysis of beam data; establishes procedures for dose calculation
Participates in research and development programs
Participates in the development of new treatment modalities
Assists in developing and recommending the budgets for the physics division to ensure adequate equipment and personnel for the department
Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions
Assists in developing and maintaining comprehensive quality assurance programs for treatment machines to comply with regulations specified by regulatory agencies, such as Joint Commission, DPH
Collaborates with medical and technical specialists in the development and the conduct of research projects
Participates in appropriate teaching programs
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives
Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed
Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations
Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements
Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors
Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed
Qualification
Required
MS in physics, engineering or related science field
Board certification in therapeutic radiological physics by ABR (or equivalent)
Minimum 4 years of direct clinical experience in radiation oncology
Preferred
Ph.D. in medical physics (or related science and engineering field)
