Retro Claims & Account Manager

The Washington Food Industry Association (WFIA) is dedicated to supporting and representing neighborhood grocers and convenience stores throughout Washington State. The Retro Claims & Account Manager is responsible for overseeing account coordination and managing approximately 150 workers' compensation claims while educating clients on best practices to reduce losses.

Responsibilities

Oversee a caseload of approximately 150 workers’ compensation claims to ensure consistency with state WAC, RCW, and Labor and Industries policy
Educate, mentor, and assist employer clients regarding retrospective rating and best practices helping identify areas of opportunity for improvement as well as identifying barriers to implementation
Will engage in project management to aid clients in achieving best practices to impact outcomes
Independently perform accident investigations and occupational disease causality assessments
Develop and implement return to work programs and provide medical case management oversight and direction
Facilitate a variety of services and communication with all associated partners, including Labor and Industries staff, medical professionals, vocational professionals, and employers
Ensure compliance with company best practices and state regulations
Analyze and manage claims by investigating and gathering information to assist employers in achieving positive claims outcomes
Coordinate claim activity with attending providers, vocational counselors, attorneys, and L&I claim managers
Prepare necessary state filings within statutory limits and file, coordinate, and assist with claims matters presented to the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals through the mediation process
Build relationships with members through both on site, off site, and virtual meetings to gain understanding of and work environments, work processes, and retro performance contributors
Prepares persuasive and evidence based written and oral arguments to influence case direction and action
Research and analyze complex medical materials, chart notes, reports, reference materials, and other resources and documents to proactively coordinate and drive outcomes
Identify, develop, and deploy needed claims focused training and guidance for membership

Required

Experience in self-insurance or retrospective rating workers' compensation management
Understanding of financial management and medical terminology
Knowledge of workers' compensation Retrospective Rating programs
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and strong relationships
Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze data to drive program results
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office suite
A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for member visits and events
Ability to influence others in their opinions, attitudes, and judgments
Ability to perform mathematical and basic statistical calculations
