Responsibilities
Providing electrical power, communication, and lighting design services
Supporting project schedules and quality control to achieve safe, high-quality, and efficient project outcomes
Facilitating constructability and prefabrication strategies from project inception to completion
Performing 2D/3D drafting using Bluebeam, Revit, and AutoCAD and other Company software
Ensuring local energy code compliance and collaborating closely with design teams
Reviewing shop drawings and developing installation documents
Coordinating with vendors and project managers to optimize project delivery
Performing circuit layouts, electrical power, communication systems and lighting design services, job scheduling, job completion, quality control, problem resolution, coordination, job communication, job tracking and Company client satisfaction activities for assigned projects
Completing 2D and 3D drafting tasks to support electrical construction initiatives, utilizing Autodesk and other standard Company software
Working closely with design teams while applying detailed attention to modeling, clashing and annotating sheets
Gathering and requesting specific information from other design disciplines necessary to move forward and complete electrical designs on schedule
Surveying job sites as needed for scope of work and quality to determine compliance with the prepared documents
Preparing detailed engineering and construction installation documents, developing conceptual designs, sketches, or value engineering ideas to help prepare estimates
Providing calculations, specifications, estimates, device coordination, proposals and other details required to complete electrical designs on schedule
Consulting with vendors and reviewing project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements
Developing engineered construction installation drawings from contract documents developed by outside firms
Participating in electrical construction-related training
Supporting and complying with all BIM, modeling, prefab, technologies, and planning standards
Providing recommendations for changes to improve standards and procedures, as necessary
Responding to questions and addressing problems with appropriate resolutions and plan revisions
Staying informed of new electrical and safety codes, materials, technologies, and practices
Assisting in managing design budgets and forecasting resource needs
Attending BIM coordination meetings and/or multi-discipline design review meetings and making appropriate changes as needed, escalating cost and scheduling issues as needed
Building effective relationships with customers, foremen, project teams, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups and others that reflect and support the Company’s core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations
Teaching and mentoring design team members as needed
Qualification
Required
Associate degree or equivalent work experience in electrical engineering, electrical design, or a related field
Bachelor's degree from an accredited bachelor level engineering technology (ABET) program required for engineering track roles
Minimum 6-7 years of BIM modeling experience and electrical design experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as an IBEW Inside Wireman Journeyman Electrician, including time served as an apprentice and proven experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical installations
Proficient in using electrical tools and equipment
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program through the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) or similar electrician training program
Experience and proficiency using Revit, Autodesk, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office software
Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Considerable experience supporting field electricians and a strong desire to learn more about electrical design and field installation methods of large-scale construction projects
Trained and proficient with design techniques, electrical specifications, documentation, scheduling and power, lighting, and systems design work
Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications
Preferred
Healthcare, heavy industrial and/or data center design experience a plus
