Responsibilities
Assist tenants in sealing their eviction records under state law
Draft and file petitions
Represent tenants in court on sealing petitions
Work closely with CLA’s housing unit to identify tenants who can benefit from the sealing law
Engage in community outreach, including know-your-rights trainings and eviction-sealing clinics
Collaborate with CLA’s re-entry unit to design community outreach events
Be involved in grant-reporting activities
Travel to all five counties in which CLA serves clients
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in Massachusetts
Experience in housing law or related areas
Strong advocacy and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities
Commitment to public interest law and serving low-income populations
Willingness to travel to all five counties served by CLA
Preferred
Experience with eviction sealing or criminal record sealing
Familiarity with grant-reporting activities
Experience in community outreach or legal education
