Responsibilities

Monitor and assess the quality and quantity of work completed by HIM team members to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
Performs in-depth investigations of questionable data entry, corrects or provides targeted guidance as advised, and participates in data integrity or regulatory audits and other duties as assigned
Reviews the accuracy of changes made to patient identifiers and provides targeted guidance as appropriate
Audit documents scanned outside of HIM for adherence to scanning policies and guidelines
Designs, prepares, and presents statistical, trending, and performance improvement reports to leadership or others as needed
Recommend areas for educational and process improvement
Track audit outcomes and maintain documentation for compliance and quality assurance
Provides education and training to HIM team members and other staff as needed
Conduct regular reviews and updates of HIM documentation, job aids, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and maintain up-to-date workflows
Stay current with regulatory changes and updates to state and federal law that impact HIM operations

Required

Associate's Degree Health Information Management or related field - Required
At least four (4) years experience in HIM operations - Required
Ability to lead a team for projects required
Knowledge the revenue cycle functions required
Familiarity with electronic health records and document management systems, preferably Epic and OnBase required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills required
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on data required
Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy-to-understand manner required
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association - upon hire - Required or
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association - upon hire - Required

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management or related field - Preferred
At least two (2) years experience in HIPAA privacy rules - Preferred
