Capital Project Manager (Mechanical / Process)

They are seeking a Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary capital and maintenance projects across gas transmission, distribution, and plant facilities, focusing on process and mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities
Manage the full project lifecycle for assigned capital and O&M projects, including scope development, feasibility studies, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and execution plans
Lead and coordinate internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, maintenance, safety, environmental, procurement, finance) and external partners (consultants, contractors, vendors) to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget
Oversee development and review of engineering designs, specifications, drawings, and technical documents for mechanical/process systems (e.g., pressure regulation, metering, compression, piping, and related equipment)
Ensure projects comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA, OSHA, and relevant federal/state pipeline and utility regulations) as well as internal engineering and construction standards
Prepare and present business cases, funding requests, and project status reports to management, providing clear updates on scope, cost, schedule, risks, and mitigation plans
Develop and manage project budgets and schedules; track performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed
Support development of bid documents, participate in contractor and vendor selection, and manage contracts, change orders, and invoice approvals
Coordinate field activities including site visits, constructability reviews, construction oversight, and support for commissioning and turnover to operations
Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in project execution, engineering standards, and asset reliability
Promote a strong safety culture by integrating safety into project planning and execution and ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project engineering and/or project management in a gas utility, energy, petrochemical, or industrial environment
Solid understanding of process/mechanical systems such as piping, pressure vessels, combustion equipment, rotating equipment, and associated controls/instrumentation
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams and contractors
Proficiency with standard engineering and project management tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent scheduling software, MS Office; familiarity with CAD and plant design tools is a plus)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage technical complexity and competing priorities
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and presenting to leadership
Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and build strong working relationships with field personnel, engineers, and management
Valid driver's license and ability to perform periodic site visits within the service territory
Preferred
PMP certification or progress toward certification is preferred but not required
