Communications Specialist
Dismas Home of New Hampshire, Inc. is a residential treatment and reentry program for justice-involved women, including veterans, with substance use disorder. The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing integrated communications to advance the mission of the organization, enhance visibility, and support fundraising and community engagement efforts.

Responsibilities
Manage and grow DH’s presence on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) to increase awareness, engagement, and support
Develop and maintain a communications calendar aligned with program milestones, development efforts, and awareness campaigns
Create and publish mission-focused content, including posts, graphics, short videos, and stories that reflect a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens
Monitor metrics and adjust strategies to optimize reach and engagement
Plan, write, design, and distribute email newsletters and segmented campaigns using Constant Contact (or similar)
Develop targeted email series for donor cultivation, program updates, events, and community engagement
Track performance (e.g., open rates, click-throughs, list growth) and adjust strategies, including timing, to improve results
Maintain and update website content to ensure it is current, accurate, accessible, and aligned with DH’s messaging and brand
Collaborate with external vendors as needed for technical updates or design enhancements
Post news, events, impact stories, and resources that highlight DH’s unique two-phase program and community partnerships
Gather program stories, resident success narratives, and impact highlights while upholding confidentiality and trauma-informed practices
Develop written and visual content for brochures, one-pagers, reports, slide decks, appeals, impact summaries, and event materials
Collaborate with the Executive Director and development staff on donor communications, campaign messaging, and event promotion
Collaborate with external consultants to draft press releases, media advisories, and talking points; assist with media outreach and cultivate relationships with local and Seacoast media outlets
Support community education efforts and collaborations with partner organizations to strengthen DH’s profile as New Hampshire’s only residential program exclusively for justice-involved women
Ensure brand consistency across all platforms and materials, including tone, visuals, and key messages
Partner with program staff at both locations to gather program updates, data points, events, and success stories for use in communications
Maintain and segment contact lists (donors, partners, volunteers, media, community stakeholders) for targeted outreach
Perform other communications-related duties as assigned to support organizational priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; or equivalent relevant professional experience
Minimum 3–5 years of professional communications or marketing experience, preferably in a nonprofit, social services, or mission-driven setting
Proven experience managing organizational social media accounts, creating content, and using analytics tools
Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), website content management systems, and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express.)
