Responsibilities

The main function of a manufacturing process engineer is to direct the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment
Propose and evaluate manufacturing process and equipment for assigned areas
Meet plant goals and standards in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
Coordinate the effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment in supporting SPQRC initiatives
Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment
Provide technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations
Works closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects
Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solution
Communicate with internal and external business units
Support plants in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals
Support and implement the QS9000/ISO14001/(GMS) Global Manufacturing System compliance processes

Required

Expert knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
Basic knowledge of tooling processes
Basic knowledge of automotive industry processes
Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool
Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
5 years minimum. Help if their experience comes from automotive manufacturing
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. Technical degrees are fine too
Active learners, high curiosity, problem solvers, focused on root cause
High optimism, good with dealing with ambiguity
Logical, critical thinker, evidence based approach
High engagement with cross functional team (Production, quality, maintenance)
Gear manufacturing experience/familiarity (Department operations include broaching, hobbing, bore honing, face grinding, hard turning, and laser welding operations)
CNC programming experience (ability to read, make adjustments to NC programming)
Ability to read and interpret technical prints and understand basic GD&T
