Staff - Technical Support Specialist
Southwestern Michigan College is seeking a Staff - Technical Support Specialist to provide technical information, support, advice, and assistance for campus-wide computer hardware, software, audio visual, and network systems. The role involves on-site work to modify, install, clean, and repair various technical equipment while collaborating with IT & IS on project development and deployment.

Responsibilities
Administrate Windows Active Directory & group policy
Administrate Filewave software for computer management and software deployment
Administrate printing systems and server configuration
Set up equipment for employee use
Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, audio visual and printer equipment
Monitor security and anti-virus/malware protection and perform any necessary maintenance required to improve system integrity
Recommend and install software updates as required using automated process if possible
Maximize use of hardware and software by training users; interpreting instructions; answering questions
Troubleshoot DirecTV and Cable television connection throughout campus
Provide support backup for audio visual equipment in the classrooms
Perform OS upgrade and patches as needed to PCs, Laptops, Macs, IPads, and servers
Diagnose and resolve client issues within a timely basis
Notify supervisor of project and work-order status, and advanced issues
Maintains documentation on how to repair and solve issues using the ticket system knowledge base
Perform equipment inventory and distribution
Provide recommendation for AV, computer and software updates and improvements
Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
Maintains professional and technical knowledge
Administrate printing systems and server configuration
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Assist in the creation, maintenance, implementation, and sustainment of Help Desk roadmap to include but not limited to budgeting, equipment lifecycle, and capital expenditures for the department
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in related subject from an accredited college or university
CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA Network+ certification
Preferred
Ability to administrate Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
Ability to administrate enterprise based imaging solutions such as SCCM or FileWave
Ability to administrate print management systems such as PaperCut
