The State of Maryland's Department of the Environment is dedicated to protecting air, water, and land resources. The Regulatory and Compliance Engineer Supervisor will provide administrative and technical supervision, oversee compliance staff, and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative and technical supervision of the Process Compliance Division
Oversee staff responsible for evaluating and enforcing air quality regulations
Review facility operations and ensure compliance with state and federal environmental standards
Coordinate division activities, set priorities, and ensure consistent implementation of program goals and policies

Required

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university
Four years of engineering or architectural experience in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, or public health and safety to ensure regulatory or quality compliance with engineering or architectural standards, practices, principles and methods
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 20 credit hours in engineering and two years performing engineering or architectural work in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, public health and safety, or a related area for the required education
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university for up to one year of the required experience
Candidates may substitute the possession of a current Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements may be substituted for the required education and one year of the required experience
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Environmental field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland
Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in twenty-four hours a day, and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached
All Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986. You must be legally authorized and possess any necessary documents under this Act in order to be hired in the position for which you applied

Preferred

Three years of experience in an air quality field
Knowledge of air quality compliance and inspection protocols
Managerial/supervisory experience

PERSONAL LEAVE - New State employees are awarded six (6) personal leave days annually (prorated based on start date).
