TRIO Upward Bound Program Coordinator

The University of Georgia is the state’s flagship university, seeking a TRIO Upward Bound Program Coordinator to support the implementation of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science program objectives. The Coordinator will manage curriculum, deliver academic advising, and oversee participant recruitment and retention while working primarily with middle and high school students.

Responsibilities

Manage and plan curriculum, deliver academic advising, assess the skill level of program participants, and develop a Student Education Plan (SEP) to address academic deficiencies and increase academic progress based on test scores, GPA, needs assessment, and teacher recommendation
Recruit, orient, and test program participants. Develop, coordinate, and manage the instructional program, including the after-school tutorial program for the academic year and the instructional component for the summer residential program
Coordinate program documentation of academic services as well as evaluation of efforts and submit monthly and annual reports regarding student retention and progress in courses and tests
Devise and implement a plan to evaluate the effectiveness of services and the Instructional component on the academic progress of participants for weekly after-school sessions and summer program
Responsible for initiating, searching, and participating in the selection of instructional and tutorial staff for the summer and academic year
Coordinate, train, and supervise instructors and tutorial staff. Maintain a working knowledge of TRIO Programs, Upward Bound Programs, and the University of Georgia policies
Other duties as assigned. Participate in professional development. Engage in and support OSSA, UGA, and external committees, presentations, and events. Assist with new and emerging work projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
A sincere commitment to an interest in the educational needs of the target population and a proven track record in motivating youth from low-income, first-generation families
The ability to stimulate positive activity of program staff
Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth
Applicants who have succeeded in overcoming the disadvantages of circumstances like those of the population of the target area are strongly encouraged to apply
