Responsibilities

Manage assigned quality engineering responsibilities for suppliers of Electromechanical Devices (EMD). This includes qualification of suppliers, ongoing support and performance management within the assigned scope, and cross-functional support for all related programs that impact Cost of Quality (COQ) to GE Appliances
Manage assigned quality engineering for suppliers of assigned commodities. This includes qualification of suppliers, and ongoing lifecycle support in alignment with established Supplier Quality processes
Utilize technical expertise in assigned commodity design and manufacturing equipment to support suppliers in implementing optimal product designs and manufacturing processes
Initiate and execute assigned elements of the 9-step process with the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools by partnering with Technology to identify, understand and abate issues for NPI and C changes
Conduct Critical Part Risk Reviews related to system performance, reliability or quality
Support and manage assigned projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes. Support design change projects
Interface with EMD suppliers, OEMs and manufacturing sites to improve EMD initiatives for the business
Identify and share recommendations on new EMD processes, tools and supplier capabilities within the industry to support continuous improvement initiatives
Champion the use of quality tools, Supplier Composite Scorecard and other data to identify and drive quality projects within the assigned supplier base, resulting in improved supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost)
Monitor and resolve supplier process control performance issues by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions
Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing issues and consumer issues caused by supplier defects within assigned suppliers, escalating systemic issues as appropriate
Support and manage assigned projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes. Support design change projects
Support Supplier Quality initiatives by executing corrective actions and providing data-driven recommendations for escalation, alternate qualification, or supplier exit decisions, in alignment with Supplier Quality leadership
Lead problem definition and reactive problem solving through containment, identification of root cause and corrective action with SCAR
Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written summaries to support leadership reviews and decision-making
Manage and execute Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements associated with a change
Perform annual audits to monitor supplier QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness
Identify areas for cost reduction across assigned supplier base including internal supplier process, quality improvements, Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) and material usage

Required

Engineering or Technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
3 years of EMD Design, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or relevant experience
Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOEs))
Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding prints, dimensions and tolerances
Experienced with problem solving tools and techniques (i.e. 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, DOE, eCAR, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, PPAP)
Experienced with EMD, test and measurement methods
Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change within a highly matrixed organization
Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans both globally and domestically
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20%)

Preferred

Electrical Engineering Degree
3+ years of experience with PCBA design or manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries
Prior international work experience & multi-lingual (Chinese, Spanish, etc.)
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience
Six Sigma certified (Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt)
GEA training program graduate (OMLP, TLP, EEDP)
Master's degree
