Dassault Systèmes is seeking a User Assistance Technical Writer intern to support the SOLIDWORKS User Assistance team. This role involves learning technical writing principles, developing user assistance content, and contributing to the team's efforts to enhance documentation quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Learn the core principles and techniques of modern technical writing within a fast-paced, global, best-in-class writing team

Learn how to use SOLIDWORKS apps and the User Assistance team's content creation and management tools

Develop new content and incorporate new content written by others into existing documents

Review and modify both existing user assistance content and new content developed by the team to improve its quality and impact

Contribute to the team’s current goal of expanding the visual content (images, animations, videos) in our documentation

Contribute to the team's efforts to improve its efficiency and productivity, including but not limited to the adoption of AI/LLM tools in appropriate parts of workflows

Bring a fresh perspective to our team and offer ideas for changing what we create and how we work

Required

Outstanding written communication skills, as demonstrated by writing samples and by grades and comments received in writing-intensive college courses

Excellent spoken communication skills

Demonstrated ability to analyze and explain technical subject matter

A high level of comfort with computers and software

Highly motivated to learn the profession of technical writing

Fascinated by the challenge of analyzing complex material and presenting it clearly and simply

Interested in communicating visually as well as in writing

Able to move easily and quickly between the 'student' role (learning from others and working under close supervision) and the 'autonomous team member' role (handling increasingly challenging tasks with minimal supervision)

Highly organized with good time management, scheduling, and prioritizing skills

Above all, curious

Preferred

Experience with CAD software

Experience with programming/scripting (especially web development or XML, or AI/LLM)

Experience with graphics or video development

Experience with hands-on engineering (repair/maintenance, model-making, robotics, electronics, etc.)
