Bulk Gas Engineer
Micron Technology is a leading company in semiconductor manufacturing, seeking a Bulk Gas Engineer to join their Global Facilities Technology Team in Clay, New York. The role involves providing engineering services for the planning, design, and maintenance of facilities systems, supporting manufacturing operations and contributing to capacity planning and system evaluations.
Responsibilities
Provide system designs for safe operations and maintenance
Develop, review, and maintain the corporation's equipment and component specifications and standards
Ensure material compatibility
Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations
Reviewing the network data records (with Base Build capacities, POC assignments, and actual field conditions) and validating utilization and diversity factor assumptions
Review and collaborate with sites on periodic system status presentations (system capacity, actual load, and projected loads based on all approved scenarios, key system accomplishments, and challenges/issues)
Assist sites with evaluating the system and distribution capacity impacts based on requested scenario changes
Reviewing and advising on the scope for additions or modifications to facilities infrastructure
Provide Micron specifications and standards to Design Firms, and review detailed designs and specifications for the installation of new facilities infrastructure
Provide support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
Provide supervision and coordination of consultant resources required
Ensure appropriate communication with local facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement, and manufacturing partners as the need arises to deliver project objectives and results
Be accountable for the timely review of design packages and providing documented comments and feedback
Work with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
Ensure protocols for managing transitions are followed
Supervise progress and provide engineering and design support during construction, as needed per project
Provide consultation and support to Operations and Maintenance, and Manufacturing as the Technical Subject area Domain Expert
Analyze system designs to identify improvements that will result in better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings
Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies as requested
Conduct risk and failure mode and effects analysis
Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk
Own and maintain the Best Known Method (BKM) Standards for your subject area
Maintain innovative, applicable, proven experience (chemical theory, instrumentation control theory, high purity principles, etc.)
Maintain equipment support knowledge (reaction modes/mechanisms, hazard protocol, leak detection, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical or chemical engineering required
Minimum 10-year experience in High Purity Bulk and/or Specialty Gas
Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time
Preferred
Master's Degree or equivalent experience desired
Ability to prioritize and schedule workload and work on multiple tasks concurrently
Good organizational skills and Service attitude
Excellent social skills and good partnership skills, English Required
Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities systems
Having an innovative perspective that is open to improving upon any process or product
