Cybersecurity Specialist
The State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs is hiring a Cybersecurity Specialist to protect and defend information systems. The role involves planning, installation, operation, and administration of IT security network infrastructure and related services.

Responsibilities
Protecting and defending WIARNG information systems through planning, installation, operation, optimizing and administration of IT security network infrastructure and related services including network monitoring, endpoint antivirus, aging, and vulnerability assessments
Achieving and maintaining a United States government secret security clearance
Following standard project management procedures, coordinating the efficient use of technical resources, and employing effective planning and communication techniques during the course of all operational duties
Qualification
Required
Strong information security (INFOSEC) knowledge in network security, information system design, computer operation, Active Directory, exploit methodologies, and mitigation techniques
Strong oral and written communication skills
Mastery of common administrative tools in Windows and Linux
Working knowledge of security tools and techniques
Ability to travel to various work sites throughout the state as needed
Ability to perform late night/weekend duty as needed for system maintenance
Achieve and maintain a United States government secret security clearance
Meet and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 certification requirements within 6 months of employment
Experience with common administrative tools in Windows and Linux environments, including system hardening techniques
Experience in a professional (work) setting with cybersecurity roles; specifically involving network security, system administration, and incident response
Education, training or work experience using cybersecurity principles and practices, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authentication
Conducting vulnerability assessments and implementing remediation strategies to address identified risks
Preferred
Experience or training with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and/or experience in conducting Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) processes
Using Microsoft Defender, Elastic Stack, and Tenable Nessus
Using and configuring cybersecurity tools, including Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), firewalls, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems
Experience or training with network security architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, and components, along with experience in designing and implementing secure network infrastructures
