GAL HR Coordinator

NEOGOV is seeking a Human Resource Coordinator for the Minnesota Guardian ad Litem Program, which advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. The role involves managing HR administrative functions, supporting recruitment and selection, and advising staff on HR policies and best practices.

Responsibilities

Coordinates recruitment and selection activities, provides consultation to hiring manager regarding classification options, selection criteria, recruiting methods, candidate screening, interview questions, and reference checks
Advises GALP staff, managers, and supervisors on human resources policies and procedures. Research applicable employment laws and/or labor union contracts and provides guidance and/or advice in accordance with all applicable labor laws, rules, contracts, and guidelines
Research human resources best practices and provides information and recommendations to the human resources manager. Research and reports on human resources issues; documents and reviews policies and procedures and proposes improvements
Coordinates performance review process. Maintains performance evaluation tracking system to ensure timely completion of performance evaluations. Answers question and provides general information and consultation to supervisors. Makes recommendations to the human resources manager regarding process improvements and training needs
Facilitates new employee orientation programs. May participate on statewide committees focusing on employee education and development activities
Runs reports, trouble shoots, and assists GALP staff statewide with HRIS systems information, i.e. SEMA4, Self-Service, etc
Coordinates workers’ compensation claims filing process. Completes first report of injury forms. Conducts internal investigations. Tracks claims. Communications with health care providers, DOER, the employee and supervisor
Coordinates safety program; conducts ergonomic reviews of employee workstations
Coordinates employee benefit programs, open enrollment, etc. Prepares new employee benefits information and orientation programs. Answers employee questions regarding benefits and troubleshoots benefit related problems. Participates on statewide DDIR committees, workgroups, and task forces related to benefits programs
Coordinates employee leaves, including FMLA, Minnesota Paid Leave, and short-term and long-term leaves of absence. Collects and maintains confidential medical information. Answers employee and supervisor questions relating to leave policies and programs
Promotes and serves as a resource for diversity initiatives
Coordinates payroll and human resources transaction functions for GALP employees

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational management, public administration or related field and some experience in a human resources and/or court office
May substitute an Associate's degree in a related field, or considerable human resources experience
Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws
Knowledge of state and GALP personnel policies, programs and practices
Knowledge of labor relations laws and practices
Ability to analyze and resolve personnel management problems within the scope of delegated authority
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with administrator, managers, supervisors, employees and employee representatives
Ability to develop and implement personnel practices consistent with established policies
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Skill in operating personal computer
