Senior Accountant

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking a Senior Accountant to enhance the fiscal and financial stability of the Government of the District of Columbia. The role involves various accounting functions, advising on accounting programs, and guiding lower-level accountants in analyzing financial records.

Responsibilities

Ensuring accurate recordation of agency Fixed/Capital assets in the system
Creating financial reports
Recommending management action when analysis indicates a trend that could lead to an underpayment or overpayment
Developing internal controls
Resolving complex audit adjustment issues presented by the independent auditors and Office of Inspector General
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Five (5) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as evaluating accounting operations, processes and systems; reviewing complex financial transactions and preparing reports; and possessing expert knowledge of accounting and auditing laws, regulations and policies in order to resolve issues, ensure compliance, and provide recommendations
Applicant must have a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited US institution in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting
Applicants must submit an official transcript that verifies a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered
If applicable, your application package must include a foreign credential course by course evaluation of all foreign transcripts
Acceptable foreign credential equivalency reports must be provided by organizations that have current membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE)
