Responsibilities
You will think broadly about our complete integrated platform, starting at manufacturing, through provisioning, vehicle installation, operation and monitoring to ensure the Lytx Video Telematics Recorder Platform solves the right problems in the right ways
You will evaluate frameworks, libraries, tools, operating systems, and third-party products to provide technical direction to the Embedded Software organization
You will develop and experiment with new software architectures to inform the next generation of our Embedded Platform
You will advise on, design, and experiment with cloud-connected systems to improve overall customer experience through integrated monitoring
You will experiment with and advise on process changes, build systems, and in-field monitoring systems to accelerate Embedded Software development on our 1M fielded Video Telematics Recorders
You will work cross-functionally with the hardware engineering, field installation, product management, and technical support teams to ensure Lytx customers experience the highest standards of performance
You will provide technical guidance and experience to solve challenging Embedded Software issues
You will actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure software requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view
Qualification
Required
10+ years related experience developing commercial products
Experience mentoring junior engineers, driving architecture decisions, and influencing cross-functional teams
Strong C/C++ development skills with a focus on embedded systems
Expert knowledge of Linux distributions, especially Yocto, for building custom embedded platforms
Experience with remote IoT devices and a solid understanding of connectivity challenges, security, and scalability
Proven ability in performance optimization and advanced debugging techniques
Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, BLE)
Strong motivation to work through engineering challenges
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
