Clinical Research Coordinator I

Michigan State University College of Engineering is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I in the Knickmeyer Lab. The role involves assisting the Principal Investigator with study administration, consent procedures, and data management for an NIH-funded study on the effects of stress and environmental chemicals during pregnancy on brain development.

Responsibilities

Assist the Principal Investigator with study administration, consent procedures, and the collection and management of data and biospecimens, including brain scans
Suggest and prepare amendments to the protocol; generate progress reports; monitor study participants’ progress to include documentation and reporting of adverse events and required notification of regulatory agencies
Obtain informed consent when appropriate; assist the PI in research procedures as required by study protocol including preparing children for MRI scans; assist with interviewing study participants and administration of questionnaires
Coordinate scheduling of study participants for study procedures; coordinate collection, storage, and shipping of lab specimens
Collect data from questionnaires, laboratory tests, and other sources; inspect study files and the electronic database to ensure completeness and accuracy of data; enter and perform QA checks on data; review work of the support staff within designated areas

Required

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a four-year college degree program in a clinical field such as health or biological science
A minimum of one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in clinical and/or research
Completion of an associate's degree with clinical research coursework or an Allied Health degree and three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in clinical and/or research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Completion of required Institutional Review Board (IRB) training and certification within the first 30 days of employment
Valid vehicle operator's license at the time of hire
Travel is required for this position

Prior experience working with young children
