Responsibilities
Design, program, test, and debug PLC logic for automated systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Maintain and improve ladder logic (LD), structured text (ST), and function block diagrams (FBD)
Troubleshoot and resolve PLC hardware and software issues on site in Reno
Integrate AI assistants (e.g., ChatGPT APIs) into HMI/SCADA systems for enhanced diagnostics and operator support
Work with cross-functional teams to design workflows where AI reduces downtime and improves performance
Produce technical documentation of PLC system logic, AI modules, and integration interfaces
Ensure all systems meet safety and regulatory compliance standards
Conduct system tests in simulated and live environments
Deploy updates and improvements to existing automation systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years' experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
Familiarity with industrial communications (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet)
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work on the plant floor
Preferred
Exposure to AI platforms and APIs (e.g., OpenAI's ChatGPT)
Experience automating analytics or user support via conversational AI
Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity standards
