Responsibilities

Retrieve documentation according to established procedures
Check all documentation and medical records for quality and completion prior to scanning
Scan and index medical records and documentation into the electronic medical record
Communicate with county offices regarding documentation, medical records, and release of information
File loose documents in medical records
Maintain and file archived paper records
Assist Health Information Manager with purging and destroying records
Provide customer service to requestors regarding Release of Information
Release Protected Health Information appropriately following State, Federal, and HIPAA Regulations within specified timeframes
Remain current on all State, Federal, and HIPAA Regulations
Comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations
Assist with subpoena coordination between staff and courts
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

RHIT CertificationMedical records experienceHIPAA RegulationsHigh School DiplomaGED

Required

High School Diploma or GED required
Prefer one (1) year of previous medical records experience
Valid driver's license and active auto insurance coverage
Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks

Preferred

Associate's degree
RHIT Certification
