VOA Northern Rockies - Chief Executive Officer

Volunteers of America (VOA) is a faith-based, nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. The Chief Executive Officer will oversee organizational operations, administration, finances, and strategy while modeling servant leadership in alignment with the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities

Serves as the VOA Northern Rockies' lead minister and ensures that ministry is infused throughout the affiliate’s program services and operations
Oversee the daily execution of all human services through strong program delivery, management and supervision
Demonstrate strong relational capacity, fostering authentic and trusting connections across the organization
Establishes policies, procedures and compliance within all departments
Works collaboratively with VOA, Inc
Maintains VOA Northern Rockies as a Chartered Affiliate
Ensures that the strategic planning process is inclusive of the Board of Directors, Executive Staff and other team members as appropriate
Oversees all human resource management functions - including staff recruitment, performance assessment, disciplinary issues, compliance with personnel policies and procedures
Oversees all legal matters, compliance and business development
Oversees all organizational fundraising including the VOA Norther Rockies Foundation
Ensures fiscal stability and fiscal accountability through sound business practices, appropriate accounting procedures and affective revenue cycle management
Regularly reviews financial statements and ensures programs are operating within budgetary guidelines
Ensures positive public relations are fostered internally and externally
Maintains strong working relationships with principles of key federal, state, county and municipal funders
Determines advocacy priorities within region and effectively engage key legislators on those priorities
Works with the Board of Directors in supporting their governance responsibilities
Ensure the Board of Directors receives thorough and accurate information regarding all organizational performance
Provides staff with opportunities for professional growth and development
Ensures that the Ministry is integrated within program services
Promote empowerment across the workforce by delegating effectively and developing emerging leaders throughout the organization

Required

Be an effective communicator - both oral and written
Have an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Have strong experience in fundraising and solicitation of major gifts
Be able to engage with diverse political agendas and positions
Demonstrate integrity and ethical practices
Be able to work independently and in teams
Have broad knowledge of social service programs
Have extensive experience in human resource management
Have demonstrated success in executive oversight
Have budgeting and financial management skills
Have computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Internally possesses a posture of servant leadership and aligns with organizational values
Have high emotional intelligence, including empathy, compassion, and interpersonal awareness
Have a visionary and strategic mindset with proven ability to set direction and ensure effective execution
Have operational strength with the ability to balance strategic leadership and hands-on management
Demonstrate courage and resilience, particularly in navigating crisis or organizational challenges
Have a strong collaborative orientation, encouraging teamwork, shared decision-making, and open communication
A Bachelor's degree in healthcare, social work, education, counseling, business administration or a related field is a minimum requirement, plus five (5) years of executive leadership experience in a not-for-profit organization; or an equivalent combination of education and executive leadership experience demonstrates the competencies required for the role
Must be willing to become a Commissioned Minister within the Church of Volunteers of America within initial 3 years

Preferred

A Master's degree in the aforementioned areas of study plus ten (10) years of executive leadership experience in a not-for-profit organization is preferred
