Electronic Technician
The California State University is seeking an Electronic Technician to support the Chemistry Department's teaching and research missions. The role involves designing, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing scientific instrumentation, while collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively.

Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, install, maintain, and repair complex electronic and scientific instrumentation used in teaching and research laboratories
Service and maintain advanced analytical equipment such as NMR, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS spectrometers, X-ray diffractometers, centrifuges, and related systems
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide training on the safe use of specialized equipment
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades
Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with university safety and chemical safety requirements
Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and test equipment; work with vendors on quotes and procurement
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support instructional and research needs across the College of Science
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible journey-level or skilled experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of scientific or technical equipment in the specialty area to which assigned, including one year involving design modifications and fabrication of complex and highly technical equipment or equivalent to two years of semi-skilled experience maintaining and repairing scientific or technical equipment or related equipment experience as part of instructional support activities may be substituted for one year of the required experience or equivalent to two years of trade school or technical arts training with specialization in the type of equipment repair to which assigned. Completion of an apprenticeship program or completion of a full military specialization in the required type of equipment maintenance and repair may be substituted for one year of the required experience
Preferred
BA/BS Chemistry
Experience working with/repairing gas chromatographs, NMRs, FT-IRs, mass spectrometers, vacuum equipment and/or other chemistry instrumentation
