Intermediate Electrical Engineer
WSP is an established engineering consulting firm seeking an energetic Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary Process Infrastructure and Design team. This role involves preparing electrical design drawings, performing engineering calculations, and liaising with internal clients to ensure project objectives are met.

Responsibilities
Prepare Electrical design drawings and documents in consideration with safety, construction, and operations
Preparing equipment, procurement, and construction work packages
Perform engineering and design calculations for cables, major electrical equipment, lighting, grounding, etc
Perform Power system modelling (short circuit, Arcflash, Protection & Coordination) with tools such as SKM Powertools, ETAP, etc
Prepare design drawings and documents in power distribution, motor controls, grounding and lighting design
Creating Costing estimates, material take-off and CWP
Liaise with internal clients regularly to ensure project objectives are being managed and achieved in alignment with expectations
Participate in regular project meetings to ensure quality client delivery
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university and/or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering consulting
Active professional member with NCEES or eligible for membership as Professional Engineer (PE)
Experience with design calculations for power system design, major electrical equipment, lighting, grounding, etc
Prepare engineering and design documents such as single line diagram, Motor schematics, PLC panel drawings, layouts
Previous electrical engineering and/or design experience in utilities, mining, water treatment, landfill or energy projects would be considered an asset
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software such as Word and Excel
Experience with discipline-specific design software: AutoCAD, REVIT, SKM/ETAP
A team player attitude and be able to work with multiple projects
Must pass background check
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Ability and willingness to travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field review. Approximately 25% travel

A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
