Social Media Manager

Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy that enhances brand awareness, drives engagement, and supports broader communications and marketing goals
Manage day-to-day posting, scheduling, and community engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok, and emerging platforms
Maintain and optimize platform-specific content calendars, ensuring consistency in tone, visuals, and message
Create high-performing content, including graphics, videos, social toolkits, stories, reels, and copywriting tailored to each channel
Translate complex programmatic or research findings into clear, compelling, audience-friendly narratives
Support visual direction for social content, incorporating UX and design best practices to maximize engagement
Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, visual identity, and strategic messaging
Monitor online conversations, manage community feedback, and escalate issues as needed to mitigate reputational risk
Support crisis communications response by flagging issues
Track KPIs including engagement, reach, impressions, click-through rates, sentiment, and conversions—and use insights to inform recommendations
Utilize tools such as Google Analytics, Sprout, and platform dashboards to produce monthly performance reports
Analyze trends and continuously identify opportunities to deepen follower engagement
Partner with the Social Media Director, Partnership Marketing, Creative, and leadership teams to support major announcements, campaigns, launches, and thought leadership moments
Develop social amplification plans for events, conferences, fundraising campaigns, and brand initiatives
Collaborate with partners and internal teams to source authentic stories and field-informed content
Package stories, key messages, and media wins into high-impact social posts that strengthen organizational credibility
Support the creation of social-first visual design assets, including branded graphics, motion assets, templates, and campaign materials
Maintain consistent storytelling across digital platforms through thoughtful integration of brand voice, visuals, and UX-driven design
Perform special projects as assigned

Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
3–5+ years of experience managing social media for an organization, agency, brand, or mission-driven client
Experience with a variety of social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) required
Experience with social ad tools (i.e. Facebook Ad Manager, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Campaigns, and Google Ads)
Intermediate Excel skills
Proven track record of innovative, solution-oriented thinking and ability to envision and forge new pathways to drive greater return on investment, particularly within resource-challenged circumstances
Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage relationships and navigate complex situations for resolution that benefits all parties
Strong project management leadership skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distraction
Physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting for four-plus hours a day, walking, or by other means, traveling throughout the BGCA building to meet with staff and management or deliver materials; standing, stooping; and skills essential for successful communication, including speaking, writing, and reading comprehension. Ability to clearly and concisely exchange ideas, facts, and/or design concerns with co-workers, other BGCA staff, and vendors either directly or indirectly. Ability to demonstrate judgment and execute sound decisions
