L&I Workers' Compensation Adjudicator 2/Apprentice
The State of Washington is dedicated to the safety and health of its workers through the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). They are seeking individuals for their Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 2 Apprenticeship program, where apprentices will adjudicate workers' compensation claims while receiving training and mentorship.

Responsibilities
Adjudicate and manage workers' compensation claims by authorizing or denying medical, vocational and monetary benefits and ensuring statutory time limits are met
Have your work checked for quality and accuracy as an apprentice
Work in a challenging, ever-changing environment and assist people needing help
Qualification
Required
One year of experience working with insurance claims within Labor and Industries or in claims/insurance adjusting, claims investigations, paramedical occupations, disability management, claims risk management/loss control, medical billing or paralegal services with experience in personal injury or medical insurance, or related fields
Bachelor's degree
Equivalent education/experience
Ability and skill to keyboard at a minimum of 40 words per minute, accounting for errors, with a 5-minute typing test

Spanish Bilingual jobs include a 5% salary increase for dual language responsibilities.
Permanent state employees who come into the program at or above 50G will be offered 100% 50G ($5,271).
Permanent state employees who come into the program between 87% and 99% of 50G will retain their current salary until they naturally progress in accordance with standards of apprenticeship.
All others will be placed at 87% of 50G, until they naturally progress in accordance with standards of apprenticeship.
If accepted into this apprenticeship program, you may qualify for an apprenticeship stipend through your GI bill.
The following information describes typical benefits available for full-time employees who are expected to work more than six months.
Employees and their families are covered by medical (including vision), dental and basic life insurance.
Staff are eligible to enroll each year in a medical flexible spending account which enables them to use tax-deferred dollars toward their health care expenses.
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).
Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.
Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month.
Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in WAC 357-31-165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Most employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave.
