ANALYST II
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control is dedicated to protecting California’s people, communities, and environment from toxic substances. As an Analyst II, you will support analytical tasks for the Office of Geology, focusing on data analysis related to environmental cleanup projects and cost recovery methods.

Responsibilities
Utilize various databases (i.e., EnviroStor and Daily Log, Cost Recovery Billing System, etc.) to research and analyze cost recovery methods and statuses in order to provide the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Topock project manager (PM) and management with correct and current information
Monitor and track various resources (i.e., budgets, contracts, expenditures) associated with site cleanups to ensure they stay within budget and are reimbursed and make recommendations to correct/avoid budget over-runs
Work with the PM and Branch Chief to obtain information related to the type/duration of the anticipated work of site cleanups in order to prepare and provide analysis on cost estimates for the Responsible Party (RP) and provide annual updates on Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) cost estimates to the RP
Monitor, analyze, and track DTSC’s incurred costs throughout the life of the project and provide weekly/monthly updates to the PM and Branch Chief to ensure accuracy of recovered costs
Provide analytical support to various teams within GSB (Geological Services Branch) by participating in research projects and applying systematic, critical, intensive research and analytical methods and techniques in an effort to meet the requirements of the DTSC Strategic Plan and GSB Operations Plan
Research a specific technical or administrative subject on the internet or 'data mining' in various DTSC databases, evaluate the research, and report back to the team
Qualification
Required
Experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting data
Experience in project tracking and reporting
Experience in database tracking and maintenance
Experience with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
Experience in presenting ideas verbally, graphically and in writing
Experience in process improvement
Experience in researching and analyzing administrative, technical and/or policy issues
