Responsibilities

An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks

The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention

The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits

The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium

Required

At least two years of underwriting or similar insurance experience

Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications

Experience with loss sensitive rating programs

Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required

Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written

Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills

Preferred

Multiline underwriting experience

CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience
