Network Engineer - HYBRID
First City Credit Union is seeking a Network Engineer to design and operate network infrastructure while ensuring data security and providing technical support. The role involves managing network projects, documentation, and continuous improvement of network performance and reliability.

Responsibilities
Design and operation of network infrastructure: Maintain communication links including core network infrastructure and branch networking; architect, operate and document corporate LAN/WAN/SD‑WAN environments and integrate emerging technologies
Security administration: Administer network and data security through system controls, routing and filtering devices; implement access‑control lists and firewall rule
Technical support and incident management: Provide level 2/3 support for incidents, monitor performance, and troubleshoot complex network issues. Senior roles require troubleshooting protocols such as VLAN, STP, HSRP/VRRP, SD‑WAN, MPLS, OSPF and BGP and performing in‑depth root‑cause analysis
Project management: Manage network projects, coordinate with internal staff and vendors, and participate in short‑ and long‑range technology planning for the credit union Support network segmentation, redundancy, and disaster recovery
Documentation and architecture: Create and maintain network design packages, update documentation to reflect as‑built configurations, and recommend standards, policies and procedure
Partner with security teams on firewall and access controls
Continuous improvement: Keep abreast of emerging technologies, recommend improvements to enhance network performance and reliability, and participate in the evaluation of new hardware/software
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5-10 years of network engineering experience in a regulated environment
Experience working in a regulated environment
Experience in GLBA and Credit Union Compliance
Expertise in routers, switches, firewalls and wireless infrastructure, including configuration of VLANs, VRF, STP, QoS and VPNs
Working knowledge of NIST SP 800 series, ISO/IEC 27000 series, and similar standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with IT teams, vendors and business units
Preferred
Network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP or equivalent)
