Responsibilities

Review, assign, and supervise all claim activity to ensure compliance with New Mexico WC laws, Corporate Claim Standards, and client-specific handling instructions
Investigate, evaluate, and adjust assigned claims in accordance with NM WC regulations and established standards
Establish and oversee reserves for designated claims within authority levels
Provide oversight of medical, legal, and miscellaneous invoices; negotiate disputed bills when necessary
Authorize and process claim payments within established guidelines
Negotiate settlements in compliance with NM WC statutes and corporate standards
Direct handling of complex and litigated claims
Provide education, training, and development for claim staff
Maintain accurate documentation and diary entries in the claim system
Ensure compliance with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and NM-specific client instructions

Required

10+ years of Workers' Compensation claims handling experience, including full investigation, evaluation, and resolution
Strong understanding of New Mexico Workers' Compensation Act, claim practices, and compliance requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee adjusters in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
Active Workers' Compensation adjuster license in NM or ability to obtain within required timeframe
Effective communication skills and ability to engage professionally with clients and internal teams
Reliable attendance during established client service hours

Preferred

Prior supervisory experience within Workers' Compensation
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Industry certifications such as AIC, CPCU, ARM
Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency — highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required
