Leak Detection Engineer

The Leak Detection Engineer develops and monitors the Leak Detection program for Company assets, ensuring effective leak detection systems and providing technical support as needed.

Responsibilities

Configures, implements and maintains simulated models for leak detection systems
Monitors and tunes leak detection systems
Assess leak detection system performance including false alarms with Operations Control
Understands and interprets pipeline systems to establish leak detection requirements
Works with Operations Control and Pipeline Integrity to determine critical assets and prioritization
Provides rotational 24x7 technical service of the control center for leak detection support as needed
Reviews field equipment and operations and provides recommendations to improve leak detection capabilities
Prepares cost estimates, budgets and supplies an oversight of changes
Evaluates Leak Detection and Simulation technologies and stay current on industry trends and regulations
Develops technologies to improve leak detection performance
Provides Controller and Operator training
Performs additional projects as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, other degrees may be considered if enhanced by appropriate work experience
1+ years of pipeline operating experience
Flexible, able to adapt to a change in work priorities and manage multiple projects with short turnaround time, including unplanned overtime
Cross-functional collaboration with others to identify solutions to problems while taking into account the priorities of all work groups
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrate guidance in implementing systems across a broad organization
Up to 10% travel to field locations and Operations Control in Midland, Texas
Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing

Preferred

Experience working with pipeline Leak Detection systems and programs
Possess the ability to operate advanced computer programs such as SimSuite, SPS or other modeling software
Programming experience including knowledge of SQL, scripting languages, and VBA
Familiarity with data analysis techniques and statistics as well as PLC's, SCADA systems
