Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Special Procedures supervisor, performs Interventional Radiology and special procedures examinations requiring knowledge and special skills in the operation of a variety of specialized radiographic equipment, radiation safety devices and procedural equipment
Qualification
Required
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program and completed clinical hours
State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice
AART and 1 advanced registry (CI, VI)-working in the area
A RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) may be accepted in lieu of an ARRT if deemed appropriate by facility leadership
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
Two to three years' relevant experience (in Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab)
Understanding of neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional procedures
Knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology to demonstrate appropriate structures
Familiarity with special procedures imaging equipment and radiation safety practices
Awareness of department standards and protocols for operating imaging networks
Ability to position and immobilize patients
Skill in operating imaging equipment to produce optimal quality examinations
Competence in coordinating patient throughput and care flow
Proficiency in reviewing examination orders for accuracy and completeness
Skill in preparing exam rooms and assembling imaging records for interpretation
Preferred
ACLS certification preferred
NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
